Infographic Design - Wellbeing of Children Around the World
For issue 4 of CATALYST, Wellbeing: Refocus, Reinvent, Rejuvenate, we explored the theme of wellbeing on a more individual or personal level, and its interpretation as challenge, readiness, resilience and joy. The wellbeing of children is a gauge for the wellbeing of tomorrow, as they are the foundation of our communities, and epitomize these qualities.
This was the first in a series of infographics on various indicators of the wellbeing of children in the US and around the world, such as health and, education. Something so elusive as the art of play, combined with other activities, has a profound impact on cognitive and social development. The infographic below shows the percentage of children in the US that participated in various after school activities, and the effects that these activities have on them.
This infographic shows the current data on child labor. UNICEF’s World Fit for Children is a data document which aims to inform strategies that protect children from economic exploitation.
It is also meant to prevent children from performing any work that is likely to be hazardous, interfere with their education or be harmful to their physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social development. The infographic below shows the percentage of children in the world that are engaged in labor, as well as some background characteristics of them.
